Organ Donation

If the decedent filled out an organ donor card or donor registration form prior to death, and is considered (medically) a candidate for donating organs or tissue at the time of death, contact with the Organ and Tissue Sharing Network should be made prior to death or at least immediately upon death to make appropriate arrangements for preparation of the body at the time of death.

Whole Body Donation

In New Jersey, you can arrange to donate your body for scientific study and research by calling the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Anatomical Association program coordinator at 800-443-8211 (fax 732-235-3249).

Please Note: Family consent at the time of death is required for the actual donation of a whole human body. In addition, families are asked to provide the name of their family funeral director to the representative who asks for their consent to donation at the time of death. Depending on the actual use of the body, the family may be required to arrange for final disposition of the body afterward.
