NOTE: As a policy decision, we have determined not to post on this web page the actual dollar amounts that we currently charge...but rather merely the words and descriptions carried on our GPL. As is required by federal regulation, anyone may obtain an actual printed GENERAL PRICE LIST (with printed prices) by appearing at any funeral home and asking for one and although we are not required by regulation to mail a GPL, we will honor your telephone request to mail you a copy of our General Price List if you phone us and specify that you have read this web page. For your information, other pages on this website illustrate or summarize some of the charges that we make.

GENERAL PRICE LIST

An Explanation of Services

These disclosures are intended to be in compliance with the requirements set forth in the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION Regulations effective on April 30, 1984 and revised January 11, 1994. These statements are made in accordance with generally accepted functional pricing practices in the State of New Jersey. We reserve the right to change prices without notice; upon change, a new printed General Price List will be made available.

Our charges, as quoted on our PRINTED General Price List, are for services necessary in accomplishing required or requested functions. Our rates are based on a history of time spent to accomplish specific tasks that are necessary to provide appropriate care, administration and supervision. The use of our owned physical facilities are included with each service noted if they are necessary and available at the time needed. No separate fee is charged for the use of any uncommitted part of the funeral home or piece of equipment, when our services have been retained. We do not guarantee that any one purchaser will receive the exclusive use of the funeral home for calling hours unless that determination is discussed and appropriate acknowledgement is made on the Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected.

This list of services does not include certain items that you may ask us to buy for you from third parties, such as cemetery or crematory services and paid newspaper notices. Those items, if required or requested by you, will be shown on your Estimated Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected and on your final funeral statement from the funeral home.

Non~Declinable Basic Services
(Common to all Funerals)

LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES of the Funeral Director:

(a) The Basic Services of the Funeral Director and Staff includes (as necessary): (flat rate)

As a number of the families that we serve choose more than a minimum service funeral, we make a declinable caretaking charge for the on-going service that we render during the necessarily extended time that the body of the decedent is in our care. This charge is calculated on a per day basis and is applied in cases where our caretaking function will be longer than the basic time period that is common to all funerals we provide. The maximum time period common to all funerals has been determined to include the first full day that the body is in our care. The charge for that one day caretaking period is included in our Basic Non-declinable Licensed Professional Service Charge. For every funeral that requires our caretaking function beyond that one day basic care period, we will charge our Standard and~or Extended Caretaking charge for each day or part that the body remains in our care.

“This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains.)”

Declinable Services

“The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire, however, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected.”

EMBALMING and Sanitary Care including the use of our preparation room, equipment and staff:

One of the services that we provide is the embalming of the body. While embalming is not required by law except in certain circumstances to protect the public health, common sense dictates its necessity in most instances for cosmetic reasons. We will require that a body be embalmed under such circumstances as public viewing and~or a funeral ceremony with an open casket. If we make a charge for embalming, we will explain the reason in writing on the Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected. Embalming will not be done without the authorization of a responsible representative of the family or of the estate of the decedent, unless it is required by law. If it is required by law, you will be required to pay for it even if you choose a type of service that does not usually require embalming. The State of New Jersey requires embalming if final disposition does not take place within 48 hours of death and if refrigeration is not available. We make no representation that deterioration of a body can be prevented for more than a limited time by embalming. Embalming may be done at another facility.

(f) Std. Embalming and Sanitary Care (flat rate)

(g) Embalming and Sanitary Care after Post Mortem Examination (Autopsy): (flat rate)

(h) Sanitary Care, Surface Disinfection & Positioning the features for private viewing (not embalming): (flat rate)

“Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.”

"If you choose to have an embalming performed, the decedent may be embalmed at a location other than this registered mortuary."

This charge is calculated on a per day basis and is applied in cases where our caretaking function will be longer than the basic time period that is common to all funerals we provide. The basic time period has been determined to include the first full day that the body is in our care. For every funeral that requires our caretaking function beyond that one day basic care period, we will charge our Standard and~or Extended Caretaking charge for each day or part that the body remains in our care.

The State of New Jersey prohibits cremation within the first 24 hours after death. Under certain circumstances, this statute may cause you to incur a sheltering charge.

MERCHANDISE usually provided by the funeral home:

(a) Caskets (Range of Prices) “A complete price list will be provided at the funeral home.”

A wide variety of caskets produced by several manufacturers is available to us if time permits delivery from the source. We display twelve caskets that are available for burial purposes...they are made of specific woods, non-specific wood, veneered composition board, steel of varying thicknesses and “herculite,” a laminated paper product. We can not change the interior material or design from one casket to another but with sufficient time, we may be able to order a casket custom lined to your specifications. The only caskets that are sealed upon closing are metal caskets...non-metallic caskets do not “seal.” If protection from the elements of the ground is an important consideration, we suggest that a “sealed concrete burial vault” will provide more long lasting protection than will a sealed casket. Most sealed products are accompanied by a limited warranty, issued by the manufacturer. We make no representation that deterioration of a body can be prevented for more than a limited time by purchasing certain caskets.

(b) Outer Burial Enclosures ~ Warrantied and Nonwarrantied, Lined and Unlined,
Sealed and Unsealed Concrete Burial Vaults and Rough Concrete Enclosures (Range of Prices) “A complete price list will be provided at the funeral home.”

Although metallic burial vaults are available, they are not commonly used in the local area. Concrete and concrete lined with a nonporous polycarbonate or fiberglass is the usual material from which burial enclosures are made. Concrete enclosures are usually divided into three categories: 1) Sectional Grave Liners and Rough Boxes, 2) Non-Warranteed “sealed” Vaults and 3) Warranted Sealed Burial Vaults. Most local cemeteries require that a concrete burial enclosure be provided to encase the casket in the ground...some cemeteries do not allow the use of a concrete “rough box” and no local cemetery allows a sectional grave liner. The purpose of the requirement for any concrete enclosure is to support the earth above the enclosure and prevent the “sinking” of the surface of the ground in future years. We make no representation that deterioration of a body can be prevented for more than a limited time by purchasing certain outer burial enclosures.

(c) Other merchandise available from the funeral home includes but is not limited to:

RENTAL of a CASKET: (An alternative container is required for the cremation process.) (flat rate)

A casket is not required by law for cremation. We offer a Rental Casket for Calling Hours and Funeral Ceremonies and several alternative containers made of herculite, fiberboard or corrugated cardboard and plywood when cremation is chosen.

A rented casket is usually selected to hold the body during calling hours and a funeral ceremony if cremation has been selected as the means of final disposition. After the conclusion of calling hours and~or funeral ceremonies, the body is removed to a low cost container for the cremation process. If a casket is purchased instead of being rented, the body is cremated in the casket that is purchased.

Please ask us about other services that we can provide:

PREPAID FUNERAL CONTRACTS with all deposits in the New Jersey Prepaid Funeral Trust Fund that satisfy the current rules for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid and current assets can be conserved to pay for funeral expenses.

LOW COST FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN
We make no charge for limited services, facilities and transportation for infants and pre-teen children. The family is required to pay third parties for their charges and is required to pay for “out-of-pocket” expenses of the funeral home, including, among other items and services, a casket and~or burial enclosure. Services for teenagers and young adults are necessarily more involved and certain charges will be made for our services for more involved funerals for older children and young adults.

We are prepared to recommend and coordinate services with a DISTANT FUNERAL HOME when death or final disposition is in an area beyond our travel radius (@ 400 miles). We belong to several national and international trade associations and we can arrange for services by a distant funeral home we (often know and always) can trust.

DISCOUNTED PACKAGE OF SERVICES

This funeral home does not offer any discounted “package” of services either for receiving remains from nor forwarding remains to another funeral home nor do we offer a discounted package for direct cremation or immediate burial, however, as the Federal Trade Commission requires the general listing of four categories of this genre, we list below, four good faith “groupings.” The total cost for each of these “groupings” is the sum of the individual services that make up each “grouping.” If you want any of these “groupings” we will itemize the costs of each individual service on the statement that we provide to you along with other services that you ask us to provide or that are required.

Regarding the following categories, only the minimum services (as listed) are included in these grouped quotations. Additional charges as noted on our General Price List or special charges at a per hour rate will be made if the funeral home is required to provide different or additional services.

The containers we can provide are made of corrugated cardboard with a plywood insert.”

Immediate Cremation when a suitable container is provided by the purchaser includes only:

This document does not constitute a quotation of charges, it is merely a LIST OF SERVICES, LIVERY and MERCHANDISE that are available from this funeral home. The only valid quotations of charge are made on our GENERAL PRICE LIST or our STATEMENT OF FUNERAL GOODS AND SERVICES SELECTED which are signed and dated by an approved licensed funeral director.

INDIVIDUAL DOLLAR AMOUNTS ARE NOT QUOTED ON THIS WEB-BASED DOCUMENT PARTIALLY BECAUSE WE CAN'T MAINTAIN ITS ACCURACY OVER TIME. IF YOU WANT A PRINTED GENERAL PRICE LIST WITH THE CURRENT DOLLAR AMOUNTS INDICATED, YOU MAY PICK ONE UP AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
