WILLIAM H. TERLINDEN of OCEAN GROVE, died Monday, January 6, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. He had worked as an engineering assistant for Bell Labs, later Lucent Technologies until retiring in 1986. Mr. Terlinden was a trustee of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, and a volunteer in the church food pantry. He was also a volunteer for CARES, Whiting, NJ. He was active in the Jersey Shore Performing Arts Center and the Ocean Grove Citizens Patrol and was currently the President of The Ocean Grove Old Guard. Born in Plainfield, he had lived in Berkeley Heights, Chatham Borough and Whiting before coming here eight years ago. He was predeceased by a son Peter J. Terlinden in 2000. Surviving are his wife, Janet Wood Terlinden, two sons, Richard W. Terlinden of Hackettstown and William H. Terlinden, Jr of New Lisbon, a daughter, June A. White of Ocean Grove, and two grandchildren, Amber L. White and John G. White.
A funeral ceremony was held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New York & Embury Avenues, Ocean Grove on Thurs. morn., Jan. 9th at 11:00. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wednesday from 1-4. EMILY R. COLEMAN, 99, of OCEAN GROVE, a former longtime resident of Montclair, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Largo, Fla. She was a pioneer of her generation, showing through example, that women could enjoy marriage, motherhood and a career with outstanding success in each, at a time when such accomplishments were rare for a woman to achieve simultaneously. After completing a formal education, majoring in social services, she joined the Volunteers of America at age 22. Over the ensuing 42 years, she worked tirelessly to help establish the foundation that carried the charitable organization to the pinnacle of worldwide acclaim that it enjoys today. As the years passed, her position advanced, culminating in the rank of colonel. She held corporate offices during her tenure, including secretary-treasurer to the Board of Directors; secretary to the National Executive Board; national field and financial secretary to the Volunteers of America; and finally, secretary-treasurer to the Officers Retirement Fund Trustees. In 1968, after an extensive lobbying effort by the Volunteers of America, President Lyndon B. Johnson prepared to sign into law an omnibus housing bill for low- and moderate-income families. She was honored with the assignment to represent the organization at the signing ceremonies in the White House.
An ordained minister, she always found time to serve the community. Her activities included serving as a charter member of the National Association of Social Workers; a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers; and a member of the President's Committee for the Handicapped. She was a native of Newark.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Arthur J., in 1987, with whom she enjoyed a long, happy marriage. Surviving are their son, Bradley R. of Tampa, Fla.; a niece, Marion Armenio; and families based in New Jersey.
Friends were invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. JEAN R. KERR, 99, of OCEAN GROVE, died Sunday, January 12, 2003, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Neptune. She had worked as a housekeeper for the Prince household, Old Westbury, L. I., N.Y. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, and the United Methodist Women. She was active with the Home League of the Salvation Army. Born in Fenwick Ayrshire, Scotland, she had lived in Ocean Grove since 1969. Surviving are her friends, Mary and John Zwicky of Fanwood. Funeral services were private.

MATTHEW W. GRUM, 85, of OCEAN GROVE, died Sunday, January 12, 2003, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. He was president of Reliable Leather Pigment Finishing Co., Newark and in later years an Amway salesman. Mr. Grum was a communicant of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Park and a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1943. Born in Peabody, Massachusetts, he had lived in Belleville, Short Hills, and Toms River before moving to Asbury Park in 1988. Surviving are three daughters: Nancy Tomlinson, Pt. Pleasant Beach; Carole Fitzgerald, Brick; and Judith Crox, Rocky Mount, N.C.; three brothers: Joseph of Bernardsville, John of Lyons and Donald of Livingston; three sisters: Dorothy Vendetti, West Caldwell; Bernice Grum, Dunedin, Florida and Barbara Poplawski, Mendon, Vermont. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Spirit Church, Second and Bond, Asbury Park at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20. There were no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Matheny School and Hospital for Cerebral Palsy, PO Box 339, Peapack, NJ 07977 would be appreciated.

MARGARET HARRINGTON, 86, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at home. She had worked as an investment advisor for Bankers Trust, NYC until retiring. She was born in New York City. Mrs. Harrington was predeceased by her husband, Patrick, in 1977. Surviving are a son, Timothy, of Phoenix, AZ, a daughter, Margaret Harrington Tamulonis of Ocean Grove and six grandchildren. LOIS DEMAREST TUTSCHEK, 96, of WYCKOFF, died Friday, January 24, 2003, at the Heritage Manor, Wyckoff. Born in Bogota, she had lived in Bergenfield and Bloomingdale until 1976 when she moved to Ocean Grove and then in 1997 to Bergen County. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Tutschek in 1989, her grandson, Peter Smolinski in 1989 and her son, Gilbert Scott Tutschek in 1998. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Joan Smolenski of Oakland, and five grandchildren, Anne Gardinier, David and Paul Smolinski, all of Oakland, Tina Wassman of Farmington Hills, MI and Eva Tutschek of Keego Harbor, MI and seven great grandchildren. RUTH B. GANTEAUME, 92, of GOSHEN, N. Y., formerly of Asbury Park, died Sunday, January 26, 2003, at the Elant at Goshen Nursing Home, Goshen, N. Y. She had worked as an executive secretary for the Alcoa Steamship Company and New York Tugboat and Harbor Carriers, NYC for more than thirty-five years until retiring in 1973. Mrs. Ganteaume was a member of the Presbyterian Church on the Hill, Wayside, where she belonged to the Naomi Circle of the United Presbyterian Women. She was an accomplished artist and painter. Born in West New York, N. J., she had lived in New York City until moving to Wanamassa in 1973, then to Asbury Park in 1985 and to Goshen in 1999.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eric F. Ganteaume in 1963. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

MARGARET B. DOLDER, 87, of BAYVILLE, formerly of Ocean Grove, died Friday, February 14, 2003, at the Crystal Lake Health Care Center. She had worked as a sales clerk & cashier at Kresge's Department Store, Newark, N. J. for more than ten years until retiring.
Born in Newark, N. J., she had lived in Plainfield until 1986 then in Ocean Grove before coming here twenty years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Emil A. Dolder in 1978. Surviving is a nephew, Donald Dolder of Neconset, NY.

KENNETH I. "Kim" McCORMICK, Jr., 77, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, February 15, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. He had worked as a plant supervisor for Swift & Company, Woodbridge and Welsh Farms, Long Valley, N. J. for many years until retiring. More recently he had worked as a real estate agent with the Bills Agency in Ocean Grove. Mr. McCormick was a 1949 graduate of Rutgers University and had been an Ocean Grove Lifeguard. He was a walker and swimmer and enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren, his Ocean Grove friends and at the beach.
Born in Newark, N. J., he had summered in Ocean Grove since 1943 and had lived in Lincroft and Asbury Park before moving here five years ago. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Virginia McNamara in 1983.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Pratt and her husband, Tim of Barre, VT, a brother, Stuart H. of Ormond Beach, Fla., and his three beloved grandchildren, Kelsey, Cody and Haley Pratt, all at home.
A funeral ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wed. morn., Feb. 19th at 10:00 with burial following at the Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. DOROTHY JANE PROPERT, 79, of ALLENHURST, died Sunday, February 16, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. Mrs. Propert was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ocean Grove Auditorium Ushers. Born in Schenectady, N. Y., she had lived in Philadelphia before moving here eighteen years ago and had been an Ocean Grove tenting resident for many years.
Mrs. Propert was predeceased by her mother, Helen White of Portland, Maine and two sisters.
Surviving are her husband, Walter S. Propert, two sons, Stephen and his wife, Diane of Spring Lake and Walter Jeff and his wife Se Sone of Bradley Beach, a sister-in-law, Betty Lyn and her husband David Kinley of Philadelphia. She is also survived by a nephew, David Kinley, III and a niece, Dale Kinley and four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jayne, Danielle and Eileen.

ELIZABETH A. DEWITT, 84, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. She had worked as an administrative assistant at the Upsala College Development Department, East Orange, N. J. for more than twenty five years until retiring in 1983. Mrs. DeWitt was a 1939 graduate of Barnard College, NYC. and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, the First Congregational Church of Verona, and the Ocean Grove Woman's Club.
Born in Jersey City, N. J., she had lived in Verona more than thirty years before coming here sixteen years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard DeWitt in 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol J. McDevitt of Cliffwood Beach, a brother, John D. (Lela) Stengel of Deep River, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Doris Stengel of Wayne.

YONG AE KIM, 79, of Wayside, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Korea, she had lived in Flushing, L. I., N. Y. before coming here twelve years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Hyung Bin Kim in 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wonsil Kim Kong and her husband, Dr. Young D. Kong and a sister, Young J. Lee in Korea. TOSHIKO KAWANA, 82, of RED BANK, died Tuesday. February 25, 2003, at home. Born in Yokohama, Japan, she had lived in Brielle before coming here six years ago. GERTRUDE "PEG" GRAYBUSH, 96, of OCEAN GROVE, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. She had worked as a secretary until retiring. Mrs. Graybush had been active with the Salvation Army in the Newark area.
Born in Newark, N. J., she had lived in Ocean View where she had lived ten years before coming here three years ago.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Herpich of Eatontown, a sister, Charlotte Lindsay of Cocoa Beach, Fla., two nieces, Katherine Joyce and Barbara Bonforte, both of Oceanport and seven great nieces and nephews.

GERALD H. JOHNS, Lt. Col. USAF Reserve (Ret.), 85, of OCEAN GROVE, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He had been an engineer at the Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, N. J. until retiring in 1975. He was a veteran of WW II having entered the Army Air Corp in 1942 and then advancing in the US Air Force Reserve to the rank of Lt. Col at the time of his retirement in 1977. Col. Johns was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove. He was a graduate of both Columbia University, NYC and Wayne State University, Nebraska.
Born in Elgin, Nebraska, he had lived in Florida and then Bradley Beach for eleven years before coming here three years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia S. Rex and her husband, Charles, of Emmaus, Pa. and Nancy E. Paffendorf and her husband, George, of Hackettstown and two grandchildren, Devon Pierce Paffendorf of Hackettstown and Jerry Paffendorf of Blairstown and two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial funeral ceremony was held at the Chapel of the Francis Asbury Manor, 70 Stockton Avenue, Ocean Grove on Saturday afternoon, March 8th at 2:00. A private interment service was held at the N. J. Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown. There were no calling hours. MAXWELL A. RUSH, 80, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. Mr. Rush had a deep love of music and had been a local musician for many years. He played all musical instruments. He had been an associate with his late brother, Dr. H. Floyd Rush, Optician of Ocean Grove and Neptune for over 50 years before his retirement.He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, was much loved, and will be greatly missed.
Born in Eatontown, he had lived in Neptune and Ocean Grove more than 70 years. Surviving are a sister, Thelma Smith of Tampa, Fla., his nieces Ellie Rush-Fornarotto of Ocean, Marie Walton of Howell, June Applegate of Bay Head and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. RUTH M. BROWN, 102, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Island Heights United Methodist Church. Born in Newark, N. J., she had lived in East Orange for 50 years and Toms River for 20 years before moving to the Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove where she lived from 1978 to 1999. While living there she was the Gift Shop manager for most of those years. In 1999 she moved to Manor-by-the-Sea.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Collins Brown in 1976. She leaves an extended family of many nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

HARRISON EDWARDS of OCEAN GROVE died Monday, March 24, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was a vice president of sales in the paper industry in New York City until retiring. Mr. Edwards had been an Ocean Grove Lifeguard and Ocean Grove Auditorium Usher. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II serving as a B-17 pilot. Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., he was a lifelong summer resident of Ocean Grove and had lived in Princeton before retiring to Ocean Grove twenty five years ago.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marguerite Grimmer, two sons, Richard H. and his wife, Susanne of Orlando, Fla. and Charles E. of Ocean Grove, a daughter, Linda M. Koch and her husband, David H. of Wilton, Conn., five grandchildren, Harrison, Peter and Marguerite Koch and Brandon and Tyler Edwards.

CATHARINE B. SMITH, 103, of OCEAN GROVE, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at the Neptune Rehabilitation Center. Born in Philadelphia on August 19, 1899, Mrs. Smith summered in Ocean Grove every year thereafter. She became a resident of Ocean Grove on April 9, 1927 when she married Howard L. Smith.
She loved reminising about participating in the Tali Essen Morgan productions in the Ocean Grove Auditorium and watching the boat festivals on Fletcher Lake. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting gifts for her grandchildren and for donation to the Auditorium Ushers' Auxiliary and VFW Bazaars.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove for seventy-five years.
Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband of forty-six years, Howard L., who passed away in 1973. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Muriel and Andrew J. Wilson of Interlaken, her son and daughter-in-law, Howard L. and Janet Smith of Ocean Grove; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter, all of whom she dearly loved.
There were no calling hours. Private services for the family were conducted at the Hamilton Cemetery, Neptune. A memorial ceremony will be arranged at a later date. HELEN NOONE KEEFE, 85, of BRADLEY BEACH, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. Mrs. Keefe was a communicant of Ascension Church, Bradley Beach and had been active in various church choirs all her life. Mrs. Keefe was the sister of the late Msgr. John J. Noone, former Chancellor of the Diocese of Philadelphia.
She was a musician and an artist specializing in oils and was a member of the Art Students' League, NYC.
Born in Lost Creek, Pa., she had lived in Jersey City most of her life before coming here thirty eight years ago.

PIA WEISS, 94, of BRADLEY BEACH, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. She had been a co-owner with her husband of Gus' Sandwich Shop, Asbury Park in the 40s and 50s and then in Bradley Beach in the 60s and early 70s until retiring in 1972. Mrs. Weiss was a member of the Christian Science Society, Asbury Park.
Born in Germany, she had lived in the shore area since coming here from Germany at age 16. She was predeceased by her husband, August Weiss in 1976.

BEVERLEY MEREDITH EHRENFELD, 85, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Ehrenfeld was a 1939 graduate of the New Jersey College for Women, now Douglass College, with a BA degree in French and minor in German. She was active with her college alumnae association, the Ocean Grove community and St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove where she was a long time member. Beverley always was a friend who anticipated other peoples' needs and could be depended on for support. She had a life-long love of the seashore and was known for doing handstands and body surfing in the waves.
Born in Jersey City, N. J., she had lived in Highland Park more than thirty-five years before moving here permanently in 1975. She was predeceased by her husband, Ward E. Ehrenfeld in 1977 and a daughter, Sarah Meredith Rood, in 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Susan E. Born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, she came to the United States in 1929, living in Ohio before moving to Ocean Grove in 1944. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack McMaster in 1940, her second husband John Worthley in 1978 and by a grandson Richard K. McMaster in 1993. Born in Elizabeth, N. J., she had lived in Springfield before moving to Ocean Grove in 1953 and to Webb Avenue in 1974. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy L. Bahring in 1993. Surviving are a sister, Eunice Hisler of Kalispell, Montana and her nieces and nephews. Capt. HENRY FRANK BURFIEND, USN (Ret.), 89, of INTERLAKEN died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Captain Burfeind was graduate of Princeton University, Class of 1935 and a 1937 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. He was a veteran of the United Sates Navy, serving during World War II. As a naval aviator he served on various types of surface ships which were in command of airborne anti-submarine warfare airships. During the war, he served on battleships, cruisers, destroyers and aircraft carriers. He was appointed Executive Officer of the first airship squadron which operated south of the equator. Captain Burfeind then attained the rank of Commanding Officer of the Air Development Squadron which developed equipment for blimps. He continued his service to the Navy by designing an operations control center for the Chief of Naval Operations. Captain Burfeind was commended for the control and repair of damage resulting from a turret explosion aboard the U.S.S. Mobile during World War II. The chief of Naval Operations also acknowledged Captain Burfeind's well respected accomplishment of concept planning and construction of an operation control center at the Pentagon. Later his duty with the Department of Defense involved long range planning for military, economic and political affairs. Well decorated for his many achievements, Captain Burfeind retired in 1963. After his retirement he was active in community affairs. He was a director of the New Jersey National Bank and a director of the former Fitkin Hospital, now Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He was also a leader for the United Way drive. Captain Burfeind took great interest and donated much of his time to several charitable organizations. He was born in the Bronx and resided in Monmouth County since 1932. He was predeceased by his wife Oweita Merle Burfeind in 1994. Surviving are his step son, William S. Gundaker, III and his step grandchildren William Gundaker, IV and Oweita Gundaker. Funeral services and interment were private.

EVE THOMSON WELDON, 72, of OCEAN GROVE, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was a photographers model, doing commercials and working in television. She became a cosmetician in her later years. She worked as the cosmetic department manager for Steinbach's Department Store Asbury Park then she was employed by Sterns Department Store. She was born in New York. Surviving are her husband, Richard H. Weldon and a daughter, Kristine Ellen Scorsone of Whitesboro, TX. A funeral ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Fri. morn., July 25th at 11:00, with entombment following at the Monmouth Memorial Park Mausoleum, Tinton Falls. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9.

ANDREW CHASE GORDON, 55, of NEPTUNE, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at home. He was a supervisor for the Monmouth County Shade Tree Commission where he worked for twenty years and had worked for the Asbury Park Press. He was born in Philadelphia. Surviving are two sons, Andrew Gordon and Thomas Gordon of Neptune, a daughter, Margaret Gordon of Neptune, his wife, Gail Gordon of Point Pleasant, and one grandson, Tyler Robert Gordon. Also surviving are his parents, Andrew Culver Gordon and Eleanor Evans Gordon, of Ocean Grove, a brother, Robert Clarke Gordon of Lexington VA, and a sister, Margaret E. Mongin of Roxbury, CT. A memorial ceremony was held at the Chapel at Francis Asbury Manor, 70 Stockton Avenue, Ocean Grove on Sat. aft. August 16th at 2:00. NATASHA WOLNIANSKY, 50, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at home. She was a 1973 graduate of Rutgers University, New Brusnwick and a member of its Alumnae Association. She was born in New York, NY. Surviving are her son, Sasha Wolniansky, a brother, Peter W. Wolniansky, and her mother Lydia Butovich Wolniansky all of Ocean Grove. Rev. ALBERT LIVINGSTON BEEMER, 86, of OCEAN GROVE, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at the Jersey Shore University Med. Center, Neptune. The Rev. Mr. Beemer attended Houghton College, Houghton, NY, then graduated from Drew University Theological Seminary. After graduating he served Christ in the following congregations: Teabo Methodist Church, Mt. Hope Methodist Church, Brown Memorial Methodist Church, Jersey City, Tenafly Methodist Church, Kearny Methodist Church, Hasbrouck Heights Methodist Church and Roselle Park Methodist Church, retiring in 1983. After his retirement he served as the visiting minister for St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove. He was a longtime member of the Roselle Park and the Asbury Park Rotary Clubs, and was a past president of the Asbury Park Club. Mr. Beemer had been a member of the Lions Club and the Optimist Club, and served on the borough council in Roselle Park. He loved his family and friends beyond all comprehension. He was born in Lafayette, NJ and was predeceased by a son Ronald A. in 1968. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Shrader Beemer, two sons , Gerald L. and his wife Cynthia P. of Preston, MD and John Wesley of Sadsburyville, PA, a brother, Robert of Hackettstown, a sister, Janet Smith of Lafayette, and five grandchildren David Lee, Scott Livingston, Carrie, Dawn and Catherine. A funeral ceremony was held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New York & Embury Avenues, Ocean Grove on Fri., morn., Sept. 12th at 10:00, with burial following at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, N. George of West Allenhurst and Rev. Floyd E. George, III of Vails Gate, N. Y., and his mother, Irene Tennant George of Ocean Grove. A funeral ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Sat. morn., Oct. 11th at 10:00, with interment following at the Hamilton Cemetery, Neptune. KATHERINE LEWANDOWSKI, 84, of ASBURY PARK, died November 3, 2003, at the Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant. She had worked as a seamstress until retiring in 1955. Mrs. Lewandowski was a communicant at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Park, was a member and guard for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1333, Asbury Park more than 40 years and was active with the Asbury Park Senion Citizens Center more than 20 years. She loved the Asbury Park and Point Pleasant boardwalks and trips to Atlantic City. Born in Neptune, N. J., she had grown up in Neptune Township and travelled with her husband before returning to this area in 1956. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lewandowski in 1964 and a sister, Mary. Surviving are a daughter, Marietta Lewandowski of Point Pleasant, four brothers, Samuel Martuscelli of Daytona Beach, Fla., Pat Martuscelli of Shark River Hills, Neptune, Joe Martuscelli of Neptune and Tony Martuscelli of Neptune, a sister, Rose Warrick of Neptune, two grandchildren, Raymond W. Regan, Jr. and Sheila Regan and a greatgranddaughter, Sierra Regan.
A Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R. C. Church, Asbury Ave. at Pine St. on Mon. morn., Nov. 10th at 10:00. MARION WHITNEY LOWE, 90, of OCEAN GROVE, died November 15, 2003, at THE St. Barnabas Hospice at Mon. Med. Ctr., Long Branch. She had worked as a theater manager for Walter Reade Theaters, all over Monmouth Co., N. J. more than thirty years until retiring in 1973. Mrs. Lowe was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Oakhurst and the Eatontown Order of the Eastern Star. Born in Elberon, N. J., she had lived in Asbury Park until 1998 when she moved to Ocean Grove. She was predeceased by a former husband, Edward Whitney in 1998.

DENNIS E. GILLEN, JR., 69, of OCEAN GROVE, died November 24, 2003, at the Jer. Shore Univ. Med. Ctr., Neptune. He had owned and operated Denny's Liquors, Elizabeth, N. J. for more than twenty years until retiring in 1979. More recently had worked as a boxman at Caesar's Palace, Atlantic City, for nineten years until he retired in 2000. Mr. Gillen was a communicant at Ascension Church, Bradley Beach. He was a member of the Ocean Grove Fishing Club. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Born in Elizabeth, N. J., he had lived in Clark most of his life, moving here four years ago. Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia Kennedy, a son, Dennis J. Gillen of Bristol, Pa., a daughter, Linda Gillen Preston and her husband, Gregory of Marietta, Ga., a sister, Marita Cassi and her husband, August of Lakewood and two grandsons, Matthew Dennis and Brian Patrick Preston.

Miss Hurd was a member of the Presbyterian Church on the Hill, Wayside where she volunteered in the thrift shop. THOMAS R. BUCHANAN, 88, of ASBURY PARK, died December 3, 2003, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Neptune. He had worked as an electrician for Sloans Department Store, New York, N. Y. for many years until retiring. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan then owned and operated the Buchanan Guest House, Ocean Grove where they lived for twenty years. Mr. Buchanan played the accordian at local nursing homes to entertain the residents.
Born in Ireland, he had lived in Ocean Grove before coming here twenty years ago. Surviving are his wife, the former Anne S. Orr, three sisters, Bella Buchanan and Betty Buchanan both of New York and Georgia Johnson of Ireland and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ocean Grove Mem. Home, 118 Main Ave. Ocean Grove on Sat. aft., Dec. 13th at 3:00. There are no calling hours.
