Today, more and more people are recognizing that pre-arranging their funeral is a thoughtful decision. Pre-arrangement assures concerned attention to your preferences that otherwise might not be recognized. Pre-arrangement is a choice that you make...it is important for you to determine and record your personal desires...but we encourage you to discuss your preferences with family members, your pastor, your attorney or a friend.
Why do people prearrange a funeral service for themselves or a family member?
Some preplan because there will be no one who is knowledgeable or capable of making responsible decisions when those decisions are necessary. Others have definite preferences concerning their funeral arrangements and they want their families to be informed.
Some prearrange and prepay so as to be assured that their wishes will be carried out. Most pre-arrange and prepay in a sincere desire to be helpful and to ease the anxieties of their survivors.
What information is required?
We will record such information as your name, your address, your Social Security Number and other personal details that regard, among other things, your personal and family history your religious considerations and memberships ...we will record your concerns and desires with regard to the type of ceremony and final disposition that you choose. We need vital statistic data with which to notify various state and federal agencies at the time of your death and we need the data which will be released to newspapers in the form of an obituary...in general, we need all the information about you that will be necessary at a time that youre not able to provide it. See the PreArrangement Interview Guide.
What will prearranging cost?
First, there is no charge to make an appointment, to meet with a licensed funeral counselor and to discuss the type of funeral arrangements that you want...we make no charge to record and store your personal and vital statistic information. The ultimate cost of your funeral arrangements is a matter of your choice ...all your selections and options are identified in our pre-need price quotation document, which, along with our General Price List, provides a factual and informative awareness of each service that we will be prepared to render. The prices that we will discuss are current prices.
Why not guarantee the price?
We believe in promising only what we can deliver. A major portion of the total funeral price is composed of items over which we have no control, such as cemetery charges, payment for services by others and the cost of merchandise like caskets and burial vaults. While we generally believe that funeral price inflation will mirror inflation in the general economy, we have no way of guaranteeing that...and since we are a conservatively managed firm, we have chosen not to provide price guarantees for that reason.
What about paying for the funeral services?
We encourage you to seriously consider the funding of your preplanned funeral arrangement to protect your survivors from unanticipated financial expenditures. Prepayment will permit you to arrange for exactly the kind of service you desire and to assure others of an adequate fund for the future payment for those services. There are few instances when prepaying funeral costs does not make good sense.
New Jersey law requires that all funeral prepayments be placed in an FDIC guaranteed trust fund (which remains under the ownership of the payer until the funeral home performs its services). In New Jersey, prepaid revocable arrangements may be canceled or transferred at any time.
If you are interested in prepaying for your funeral, you should discuss the details and all your options with your licensed funeral director.About YOUR reasons...
You probably have your own very special reasons for pre-arranging your funeral (or that of a loved one)...making appropriate arrangements to pay for that funeral is usually a part of the process.
Were here to help you do all that.
Reasonably. Sensibly. Honestly.
...and we can guarantee that.
The topic of PreArranging your own funeral is discussed within this MASTER PARTITION. Click on the links to secondary pages below and on any other links on the associated pages for information about the benefits of preplanning your funeral services and the modes of prefunding those arrangements.
Know that you do not obligate yourself in any manner when you contact the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, neither to merely discuss your options nor if we fully record and store your choices.
The information contained on the pages in this partition should be helpful, but of course a face-to-face discussion with a licensed funeral director will always be superior to reading pages on a website and we encourage you to phone for an appointment to discuss your concerns once you've gathered some basic information here.
